Identity is at the core of almost every issue we see facing society today. When people are striving for identity, when they don’t know who they are, the confusion is evident. It can show up in gender confusion, fear, bullying or rage. But it shows up. And when we don’t know our identity, we are robbed of our destiny. |
Often times, we only have to look at someone to gain a glimpse of the confusion and deep need of the identity battle within. Such as the man in the photo above who showed up at a Charlie Kirk event. Click here for the dialogue. Why would anyone go out in public like that? Obviously what he sees in the mirror, is something different. His outward appearance tells a story of the mental and spiritual battle raging within. The lack of identity is a fight that satan loves. If he can keep people tied up in a battle to be someone and be recognized, he has them right where he wants them. The struggle can be seen outwardly. But when we see it we need to remember people don’t need ridicule, but prayer. |
This past week I encountered several on social media stuggling for identity. Not in the gender confusion way as the man in the picture, but by trying to be seen as important, bullying and attacking on social media. It was a group who had lost their election bid in our city or were supporting the ones who had lost. Now with no platform, they desperately wanted to be seen and attack those who had won. Their rage, hatred and struggle with identity was on public display. Their desperate fight for approval, and to be acknowledged was focused on attempting to discredit those behind their election loss. Their identity was tied up in having a position and were determined to destroy anyone who got what they felt they deserved. We see that now in our federal government as well as in people’s minds that have been hijacked to believe evil is good and good is evil. Our true identity is in who God created us to be, not what we do or what position we hold. Lack of identity manifests in many ways, but it is at the core of all issues. Satan understands this which is why there is such indoctrination regarding gender confusion. If someone doesn’t understand their physical identity they certainly won’t walk in their spiritual identity. Who are you? Do you know? It’s easy to say “I am the righteousness of God in Christ.” But do you really know what that means? Do those around you? I believe this is an urgent prayer for this week to focus on this issue not only for ourselves, but for the world around us who are struggling daily to figure out who they are and why they are here. We each were created with specific gifts and a call on our lives. But few actually find it and fulfill it. Can you imagine if our families, our neighbors, our co-workers, all really knew their spiritual identity? Can you imagine what could be accomplished? Let’s pray. Father, we thank You that You had a mighty and specific plan and purpose for every person ever created. We declare that as we submit our hearts to You, and seek You and Your will for our lives, that we will walk in it. You said You would instruct us and teach us the way we should go. That You would guide us with Your eye upon us. May that be for every area of our lives so we can walk in the fullness of our identity and destiny. Many are hurting all around us who have no idea that You created them, who they are or the plan and purpose for their life. We pray for them now. You see them and have called them by name—even when they didn’t know You. You are the Lord and there is no other. We pray for those confused in their minds regarding their gender/physical identity, who are not even close to their understanding they have a spiritual identity. (Call them by name as you pray.) We bind confusion and deception that has held them captive and loose into them true identity, truth, and understanding. We pray that You would heal the deep wounds of their heart in which they are seeking to be seen. May they come to know that you not only see and know them but created them with divine purpose. Send laborers across their paths who will lovingly speak truth that they are fearfully and wonderfully made. We declare over them that they will come to know the plans that You have for them. Plans for welfare and not for calamity to give them a future and a hope. We also pray over those searching for identity by seeking a job or position. For those who use bullying and harassment to make themselves feel important. Lord please heal the wounds and holes in their heart that react to and attack others. May the eyes of their understanding be enlightened to know the hope of their calling in Christ that the veil of deception would be removed. May there be such an outpouring of Your Spirit that our nation will call upon You and come and pray to You and then recognize that You love them and will listen to them. That those who will seek You, will find You when they search for You with all their heart. That You said they will find You and know You. Restore to them their minds, identity and destiny. Gather Your people from all the nations and from all the places where they have been driven and bring us back from exile into destiny.
