King Saul started out good. He was humble and had God’s anointing on his life. However, David was winning the hearts of the people after he killed Goliath. Saul nursed that jealousy until he became convinced David was trying to steal the throne. Saul then became consumed with destroying David. Remember pride and jealousy always work together just as offense and deception do. Saul was once anointed, but the anointing lifted as he allowed himself to be consumed with those spirits.

The question is what about those who saw God’s hand on Saul initially—did they continue to support him as he chased David for the next several years? Or did they recognize that he was pursuing his own ungodly agenda?

Would you have recognized the spirit of God had lifted? Or blindly followed?

Ultimately, Saul lost his kingdom and his life. But how many wasted their lives blindly following Saul’s orders when Saul was in sin?

Many would say, “But he’s the king!” Replace that with—but he’s the pastor! The chairman! The governor!

Present day, we are seeing many continue to follow “Saul” without recognizing the anointing has lifted. Like with King Saul, if repentance doesn’t happen, destruction will ultimately follow. Actions are indicators.

A friend said last year that he would “take a bullet” for a man in leadership who had at one time championed some godly causes. But over time another side to the man emerged that revealed lies, corruption and devious actions. My friend wasn’t willing to research any of those actions, but still blindly followed the man who had once been like a King Saul—but just like Saul, had become someone else.

We have a part that we play in this present day scenario and that is to be wise. Just because someone started out following after God, doesn’t mean they are still there. We have seen many shift over the last few years of political leaders or other leaders that we could once trust, but now see actions that make us question, “What happened?” We need to not ignore red flags. Again, actions are indicators.

When we don’t continue to research, pay attention and pray for our leaders, we can end up voting some back in, who are no longer the person we once voted for. Or are no longer the pastor we once sat under, or are no longer the person we thought they were. We have a responsibility to pay attention and find out what is going on, not just blindly continue to follow.

Holy Spirit, we thank You that You reside in us and You speak to us what You hear from the Father and show us things to come. You are the Spirit of Truth and so we ask that You would reveal to us the truth behind people and actions. May we be willing to look at that truth and be set free in our cities, state and nation from elected leaders who say one thing but do another. May we not be deceived by words, but pay close attention to actions.

We declare that the integrity of the upright will guide them while the falseness of the treacherous will destroy them. For You said the righteous will be delivered from trouble. Deliver our nation Lord, deliver the world from those whose plan is against You. May we have discernment to recognize those who are no longer being guided by Your Spirit and who are determined to follow their own agenda. Let it become so plain and clear that all will see it.

(Personalize this next section with the names of your governor, mayor and pastor…)

We declare over the President, Vice-President, Governor (name), Mayor (name), and Pastor (name) that their hearts would be as channels of water in Your hand and that You would turn it wherever You wish. We pray that it would be toward righteousness and godliness. Anywhere in which they have fallen into a place of sin, corruption or error, we pray for them now to recognize it, repent and turn away from that path. We continue to pray for all of our elected officials that they will listen to Your voice and vote according to righteousness. That they will not use their position to manipulate or prosper themselves, but that they would remain humble and work for the people of this nation. For those who have gotten off the path of righteousness, we pray they would have a “come to Jesus” moment in which the fear of God would become greater than their fear of man.

We declare that the wicked are overthrown and are no more, but the house of the righteous shall stand.

Help those in our nation who are struggling to make ends meet and put food on the table. We pray for provision and help. For those in need of a job, we pray for help and provision that as they reach out to You that You would supply all their needs according to Your riches in glory. That America will no longer turn to the government as their provider but to You.

We declare today over President Trump, VP Vance, Elon Musk, RFK, Pam Bondi, Kash Patel and all who are standing for America to be restored to our Constitution and righteousness, that no harm will befall them. And plead the blood of Jesus over them, their families and over our nation, against bloodshed, attacks, and the destruction that many are still attempting to create. Father we know that there may be hard times ahead in our economy in order to right the years of overspending and fraud. Give President Trump and his team wisdom to know what to do and how to turn the ship around so that we are reducing the national debt and not adding to it.
