Dear City Intercessor,
“Now as for you, son of man, I have appointed you a watchman for the house of Israel; so you will hear a message from My mouth and give them warning from Me. When I say to the wicked, ‘O wicked man, you will surely die,’ and you do not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity, but his blood I will require from your hand.” Ez 33:7-8
As we continue to pray regarding the global attack between Russia and Ukraine and its affects around the globe, let us not forget we are watchmen over our cities. We cannot take our eyes off what is happening in our own backyards.
In my own city, the growing population of the poor and homeless from ravaged areas such as California and New York (created by their inept leaders) are being bussed in and dropped off. As they exit they are handed debit cards loaded with a mere $10-$20 and then released into our city. I know it is happening in Oklahoma’s capitol as well.
What about the planes landing in the dead of night in small airports? Flights full of fighting age men with not a woman or child on board except the frightened stewardesses. These men who come into our country with no I.D.’s, go through no standard checkpoints and presumably have brand new I.D.s as they exit or shortly thereafter. They are loaded into waiting vans which whisk them off to their new “homes” in a well-organized re-distribution plan across our nation.
A realtor in my area revealed that in the last 5-10 years she has watched a trend of Arab decent families come in to buy large homes. These sales all meet the same criteria. They purchase homes in luxury neighborhoods—typically gated. The homes can house two to three families. They must have either a basement (not many of those in Tulsa) or a large storage building in back. The homes are paid for in cash. She said in one particular housing edition of approximately 200 homes there were at least 20 that had been purchased in that manner. This is happening all across our nation.
In my city, although Critical Race Theory (CRT), which teaches that one race or sex is inherently superior to another, has been banned from the public schools, it is still being force fed to our children under a different guise.
Also the mayor offered a program called “Tulsa Remote” which offered $10K to residents from California to relocate. To qualify they had to register to vote and remain in our city for at least a year. Participants are only accepted after being interviewed. I’m sure it has nothing to do with their political ideology right?
While my city backs the blue, is your city working to defund the police? Or perhaps are your city councilors trying to remove your voice? In Tulsa they tried to quietly pass a rule that citizens could no longer speak up in city council meetings. When confronted they denied it publicly.
I was told I needed to “get my facts straight.” They WERE straight. The proof was still in their preliminary meeting minutes of which I had a copy. Facts can be a bear when they come to light. Sometimes we have to dig down deep to find out truth. Recognize that we are most likely not hearing it from their mouths as they boldly lie to our faces.
Is any of this happening in your city? Because while they want our eyes are on the globe we must be keenly aware of what else is happening around us and how we need to pray. We must not take our eyes off our call to pray for the protection, peace and welfare of our city. This is the scripture on which City–by–City.org was founded.
Father, we come to You first in worship and to praise Your holy name. You are the Almighty God. The Holy One. Our Redeemer. You told us to seek the peace and prosperity of the city in which we live. And so we pray for (your city) because if it prospers, so too will we and the inhabitants prosper.”
(NOTE: Please don’t get hung up with the word “prosper.” In that verse it is the word “shalom” which means “happiness, welfare, health, peace, safety and prosperity.” What a powerful thing to pray and decree over our cities!)
In accordance with Your Word, Lord, we lift up the cities to You all across this nation who have no intercessor. I also lift up my city (name) to You. We ask that You would raise up laborers and intercessors in every city across our nation. That not one would be left without intercessors. That not one would be as Sodom and Gomorrah, destroyed because no one would stand.
We pray for the mayors in every city. I pray for (call your mayor by name). We ask that this day that they would sense Your Presence and humble themselves before You. That there would be no wicked way found in them, but transform them by Your Truth. We pray for city councilors currently in place. Lord You know whether they were truly elected or illegally inserted into those positions. Either way we pray that they will not be able to hijack our cities for their own political pleasure. Instead we pray that they will make wise and godly decisions that will benefit the people in the city for which they are to serve. That they will use our money well and not for their own gain. We ask that they would be trust-worthy and full of integrity. For those who are not, expose and remove them.
We pray for the chief of police and sheriffs in each city and in my city of (name). May they honor the law and be servants who stand for righteousness and justice. For those who have grown weary or feel that justice is hopeless, revitalize them. Strengthen them in mind, body and spirit to once again feel Your Presence as they walk in their call. For those who are there for the wrong reasons, who take bribes, who misuse their authority, send laborers across their path for transformation. For those who refuse to change we ask that You remove them Lord and replace them with godly men and women who will uphold the law of justice and truth to protect our cities and legal citizens.
We stand and declare over (your city) this day that it is a city of righteousness. That it is led by righteous leaders and so the people will rejoice. We declare that hearts are being transformed by Your mighty power and that the glory of the Lord would be poured out and spread to all the neighboring cities to light a fire of revival that will continue to spread across our nation and the globe. You said the mouth/words of the upright will deliver us. We declare this over our city, state and nation Lord that You and Your Word will prevail.
