The primary goal of city-by-city is to reclaim our cities for Christ. And while sometimes we go after things per our state or nation, it is our cities this week where we focus our prayers. The beginning of this week’s post is by Joyce Swingle from Intercessors for America.
“I used to love October. A month filled with fresh, cooling winds and lovely, swirling colors. A school year still new with promise and the delights of hot cocoa, mulled cider, and crisp apples. But once I became a Believer and began to develop a gift of discerning of spirits, October became oppressive…(referring to the takeover of the entire month with horror shows, Halloween, and the public acceptance of witches/witchcraft merchandised to our children.)
“But I’m sick of this hijacking — aren’t you? Isn’t it time to reclaim this lovely harvest season for the Lord’s purpose? Isn’t it time to take control and command the enemy to vacate our streets, our homes, our communities?
“So how do we do that? Well, the biblical grant of authority is clear. And Jesus came and said to them, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.’” (Matt. 28: 18-20, ESV).
“What an interesting word — authority. Simply put, it means the right to exercise power. Power, of course, is also an interesting word; it means the ability to take effective action.”
This week let us stand together to reclaim October from the forces of evil and take up the authority of heaven and exercise the Lord’s power.
As we go into this battle, it is important to prepare. As you begin this week here are some important steps to follow:
1. Confess any known or unknown sin so the Lord can close any doors to evil or mischief.
2. Apply the Blood by forgiving those who have brought evil upon the land (even from the long ago) and those who are bringing evil today.
In this week’s prayer we will:
Release the debt against those who have opened the door to the satanic in our cities and ask the Lord to cover, by the Blood of Jesus, the ground these people have given to evil. In effect we are stripping permission given to Satan to own and operate on that land. We take it back by the Blood!
We dislodge those spirits by the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ. In His Name, we bind, gag, cripple, blind, and render evil spirits unable to operate and cast them — and any and all sent to replace them — into the abyss or wherever the Lord wants to send them. Ask Holy Spirit to fill all the spaces vacated (Luke 11: 24-26).
Finally, before you begin, cover yourself and your family with the full armor of God.
Father,
We acknowledge that You are the Creator of all things. You are Lord of the harvest and we take back that which has been stolen including the month of October which has been merchandised and given over to the “festivities” of Halloween and demonic activity paraded as “cute” witches, demons, etc. We repent and renounce these activities.
We forgive those who have celebrated evil and death. We repent and ask you to cleanse our land and release the debt against them and us for allowing this pagan celebration to claim this month. We reclaim it for you, the Lord of the Harvest. We plead the blood of Jesus over our city and we take this ground back and strip away all permissions given to the enemy. We command this stronghold and the demonic activity which has been released and which was allowed residence in our city, to be cast into the abyss from where it came. Holy Spirit fill the vacated spaces with the light and love of Christ.
In the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we bind, gag, cripple, blind and render unable to act or replicate all spirits whose name or whose function is to promote death, evil, horror, hate, terror, witchcraft, Jezebel, pharmacia, Baal, and Halloween and all assigned to hijack the harvest, corrupt children, or own the autumn. We cast all such into the abyss from where it came and say do not return. Holy Spirit we ask you to fill all vacated spots with Your Life and Your Love.
We pray over the children who are constantly exposed to activities which promote witches as cute or good and the door of spiritual activity that is released into their hearts and minds.
Lord forgive us for not recognizing the harmful effects of this exposure. We take back October from the proliferation of horror and witchcraft spewed in the media and call a stop to the takeover of this month.
We pray protection in our cities against witchcraft and sacrifices offered especially at Halloween. We declare no more occultic sacrifices in our cities or surrounding region and plead the blood of Jesus to cleanse and cover our land.
Father, we worship You, Lord of Life, Light of the World, Love of the Ages. And we decree: October belongs to the Lord! The rod of the wicked will NOT rest upon the land of the righteous and witchcraft will NOT thrive over a people born free! Lord Jesus, take back October! Take back Your harvest days! We declare all the earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof! May Your glory be revealed.
