America is divided—-the world is divided. And it shouldn’t surprise us. Jesus said, “I have come to set the world on fire, and I wish it were already burning! …Do you think I have come to bring peace to the earth? No, I have come to divide people against each other! From now on families will be split apart, three in favor of me, and two against—or two in favor and three against.
Father will be divided against son, and son against father; mother against daughter and daughter against mother; and mother-in-law against daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law.’
Then Jesus turned to the crowd and said, “When you see clouds beginning to form in the west, you say, ‘Here comes a shower.’ And you are right. When the south wind blows, you say, ‘Today will be a scorcher.’ And it is. You fools! You know how to interpret the weather signs of the earth and sky, but you don’t know how to interpret the present times (Luke 12:49-56).
How do we interpret the present times? By recognizing God has given America a window of grace for repentance and revival. We must see America transformed OR we can choose to sit back and watch from the sidelines the political attacks against Trump and lose this window.
Even as I was writing this, I received a call from a friend, pastor Ron McIntosh, with a word for this moment in time. It is 1 Cor 16:9, There is a wide-open door for a great work here, although many oppose me.
That is the gift given to us. A wide-open door for a great work for those with the courage to walk through it. Why does it take courage? Because it requires we speak out loudly and clearly that America needs to return her values back to God and see transformation from the evil laws and ungodly mandates. When we speak about those things, it won’t necessarily invite unity. We cannot think just getting Trump elected was the end of it all. It is just the beginning to see a return to God.
We now approach Thanksgiving and holidays in which families will have the opportunity to be together. Begin to pray now for transformation of hearts and minds. As I shared a few weeks ago, current statistics show that 30%-40% of families have at least one adult child who is no longer talking to their parents. Pray for those families that prodigals are coming back!
We pray for pastors and churches to be lighthouses of hope and truth to a hurting world. And the world is hurting. Just watch some of the videos of those in which the election results fill them with fear. The deception that has been poured out on our nation must be broken for healing to begin.
One of my friends said it well, “Intense prayer and worship has just begun for us. We have seen a miracle and now we are stewarding this present grace in full battle armor.”
Father, we are GRATEFUL for your mercy upon America. May we not squander this grace, but press into it to see our families, our nation and the world healed and turn to You. We continue to pray for President Elect Donald Trump and those that surround him for protection and wisdom. Guide him Lord in those he will appoint to positions within his administration that they will be godly voices and not backstabbers. May he surround himself with godly counsel and seek Your face.
We put on the full armor of God as we enter this new season. Just as Nehemiah and the Israelites were prepared and watchful for battle even as they worked to rebuild and restore the walls of Jerusalem—so now is our time. We do the same to see America restored to her identity and destiny.
We thank you for this wide-door of utterance to share the Gospel, to minister healing to those in fear, to speak courageously of our need for America to return to Christ, to stop murdering babies and see our nation transformed. May we not slow down or remain quiet, but may we grow more courageous, even in the face of opposition, to speak Your Name and proclaim truth.
We pray as we enter this holiday season for restoration of families. Where there has been deep political divide, we pray that You would pull back the veil of deception and open the eyes of those who have believed lies. For those who have already planned in their hearts not to see family, Lord we pray that you would touch their hearts with a deep longing that they will feel compelled to go.
May those who are hurting and in fear, find answers in the lighthouse of churches who speak truth with love. We bind the spirit of deception which has produced fear and declare that they shall know the truth and the Truth will set them free. For You have not given a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind. We pray for a sound mind in America and across the world for that torment from fear must go. Deception and offense must go. We pray for strength that we will recognize this opportunity and wide-door of utterance to share the Gospel and Truth and use it well. May we not be afraid to speak and stand for truth, but do it with wisdom.
We pray especially over the next 2.5+ months that we will continue to see your hand upon our nation. We have watched a miracle in this election and now we pray that You will receive the glory and honor due Your name. You said You would never bring Israel to the point of birth and then not deliver it and so we ask the same for America. You have brought us to the point for rebirth/renewal. Do it Lord. Do not keep this nation from being reborn for Your glory. Faithfully reward Your people for our suffering and thank You for Your everlasting covenant with us. So that everyone will realize that we are a people whom You have blessed!
