The hurricanes that hit recently are an outward indication of what is taking place spiritually. We need to all brace. It’s going to keep getting rocky from here on out. Don’t let it surprise you or discourage you. He is still in control. We are to keep our feet planted on the Word.
Here are some things you can count on as we near the election and beyond.
1. More chaos. A fire in Wyoming has now consumed over 75,000 acres. Hurricane Helen infastructure restoration has been predicted to take a year to restore. Whatever other distraction or chaos can be created will be.
2. Despite the fact we are told that we have the best economy ever, many American families are struggling week-to-week to put food on the table and keep their cars filled with gas. It’s intentional. Fighting for survival, people are unable to focus on other issues.
3. Breaking news stories to discredit and make people mad at Trump. We cannot allow ourselves to vote from emotions but from biblical values.
4. Insistence that we need to vote early. (Don’t unless you have to. It only gives them a heads up of the number of votes needed to win. It’s a proven fact that absentee ballots are the easiest way to cheat.
5. Fear-mongering to stay inside. Sickness and the push for more vaccines. Violence and destruction to get our eyes off of prayer and taking back our nation.
And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed, for this must take place, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are but the beginning of the birth pains (Matt 24:6-8 ESV).
A recent survey by the Cultural Reseach Center estimated 104 MILLION evangelicals won’t get out and vote this election. The apathy behind that statement is unbelievable. We have such a privilege to vote and we throw it away by not voting? How dare we treat our freedom so flippantly! It doesn’t matter if we don’t like either candidate. That isn’t the point. The point is to pray and and vote for the platform that most aligns with your values. Here is a comparison sheet by IFA between the two presidential candidates which is an important read. Last week Kamala was asked what she would do different than Biden did. She said she couldn’t think of anything! That should horrify you. Was our economy better? Was our nation safer?
But there is hope.
Last week 250,000+ people filled the National Mall in Washington DC (and 10 million joined online) to fast and pray to the Lord in repentance for the sins of America and cry out for mercy. Did it change anything? Well consider Ninevah. Did God relent when the people cried out to Him? God hears the cry of His people!
And so even as we see the chaos and confusion build around us—it doesn’t have to control us.
Keep your eyes on Him and let His peace fill your heart and mind as we walk through to the other side.
Father, Lord, you were favorable to your land; You restored the fortunes of Jacob. You forgave the iniquity of Your people. You covered all their sin. Selah You withdrew all your wrath. You turned from your hot anger.
Restore us again, O God of our salvation, and put away your indignation toward us! Will You be angry with us forever? Will You prolong Your anger to all generations? Will You not revive us again, that Your people may rejoice in You?
Show us Your steadfast love, O Lord, and grant us Your salvation. Let us hear what God the Lord will speak, for He will speak peace to His people, to His saints; but let us not turn back to folly.
Surely Your salvation is near to those who fear You, that glory may dwell in our land. Steadfast love and faithfulness meet. Righteousness and peace kiss each other. Faithfulness springs up from the ground, and righteousness looks down from the sky.
Yes, the Lord will give what is good, and our land will yield its increase. Righteousness will go before You and make His footsteps a way.
