This past week Rep. Greg Steube (R-FL) debated the (In)Equality Act on the House Floor. (The act has passed in the House and is still in debate in the Senate.)
After he referenced the Bible as part of his foundation for concern, Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY) rebuked his comments and stated, “God’s will is no concern of this Congress.”
I shuddered when I heard Nadler’s words which reveal his hardened heart that carries no reverence for the things of God. And Nadler is not alone in that hardened state.
The Word of God tells us:
Proverbs 1:7
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
Psalm 111:10
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. A good understanding have all those who do His commandments; His praise endures forever.
Proverbs 15:33
The fear of the Lord is the instruction for wisdom, and before honor comes humility.
Proverbs 8:13
The fear of the Lord is to hate evil; Pride and arrogance and the evil way and the perverted mouth, I hate.
This week our prayer focus is for the return of the fear of the Lord and a return to our foundation as a nation in which the Bible, God and our Constitution are reverenced and referenced together.
Father, we pray for America and our elected officials and leaders. Where we were known as the “land of the free and the home of the brave,” that has disappeared and with it the foundation upon which our nation was established in the fear and reverence of the Lord.
We pray for Rep. Jerry Nadler and the many others like him who have worked to remove any reference to You not only from their Party platform, but from our Constitution, our laws, discussions and our foundation. Lord have mercy on them for they know not what they do.
We pray that they will have a God encounter that will drive them to their knees and that they will understand that while they may think they are in control, YOU are the Creator and You have always been in control. Where they have tried to silence You and your Word, we pray that their efforts will not succeed and that they will encounter road blocks, frustration and the hand of the Lord at every turn. We renounce their activities. They are NOT in agreement with what we voted for or what we prayed for. And they do not align with what You have commanded. They do not represent us Lord.
We pray that they will come to their senses and escape out of the snare of the devil that has held them captive to do his will. But if they will not, if they give themselves over to evil, Lord we pray that as they have tried to cancel You and conservative voices, that it will be their voices that are cancelled. We pray that their vote will also be cancelled along with their words. We pray that they will be removed from their seat of authority and that it will be given to one who fears the Lord.
We pray for America and its citizens, who have not been taught morality and who ignore righteousness. We pray for repentance and revival in our land. We pray for hearts of stone o turn to hearts of flesh and that our nation will return to its roots as a God-fearing nation with You at the head.
We pray that there will be a marked distinction of Your blessing upon everyone who fears the Lord and who walks in Your ways. You said that those who walk in uprightness fear You, but he who is devious in his ways despises You. Lord, it is not hard to see those who are devious and who despise You. Please shine your light on their deception and devious acts and we pray for justice once more in the courts of our land. We pray for righteousness and truth to prevail and we pray, most of all, for revival to break out across every school campus, business, home, neighborhood, city and state and in our government offices.
